Winter weather warning

From The Daily Express this week:

"El Nino" is an ocean curent that forms off the coast of Peru in South America before flowing through the southern oceans into the north Atlantic.  So what has it got to do with us?

This warm water current affects airflow above it and appears to vary in five-year cycles.  In the tropics it causes violent storms; in Africa it affects the rainy season.  In Northern Europe the strength of this current determins whether we have warmer or colder winters.

This year's exceptionally strong El Nino and plunging North Atlantic sea temperatures indicate that we are in for some exceptionally cold weather later in the winter.

Now is the time to have a free, no-obligation, roof check by M E Contractors - your local Abergele roofing company.

We will check for loose tiles and slates, missing tiles, loose mortar joints in ridges and cracked flashings and blocked rainwater goods (gutters, downspouts and grids).

The smallest leak in the roof can moisten the insulation rendering it useless - meaning that your fuel bills are higher than they need to be.

Phone us soon for a free check up and roof health report.   The alternative doesn't bear thinking about!

Working in Lon Derw

According to the Met Office we've just had the hottest October day in North wales for 67 years.

The mild weather can lull people into a false sense of security.  It is only four years aho that we had the coldest winter for 400 years in this area - and temperatures plummeted to minus 16 degrees C.

So don't leave it until the last minute.  Remember the old saying  "a stitch in time saves nine".
